This policy explains what information Info Theater collects when you visit this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in language a person can actually follow.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you subscribe to our newsletter we store the email address you enter. If you leave a comment we store the name, email address and optional website you provide, along with the comment itself. If you use our contact form we store the name, email address, subject and message. We ask for nothing beyond what the feature needs.
Information collected automatically
Like virtually every website, our server records standard technical details of each request: IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and a timestamp. This is used for security, troubleshooting and aggregate traffic statistics.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working — for example, remembering your session so a comment form does not lose your place. We may also use analytics services such as Google Analytics to understand which articles people find useful. Analytics data is reviewed in aggregate; we do not try to identify individual readers.
Full detail is in our Cookies Policy.
Advertising
Where advertising appears on this site, it may be served by third-party networks that use cookies or similar technology to measure performance and, in some cases, to show ads based on your prior browsing. These networks are independent of us and operate under their own privacy policies. You can usually opt out of personalised advertising through your Google ad settings or an industry opt-out page such as the one run by the Digital Advertising Alliance.
How we use information
- To publish and moderate comments
- To send the newsletter you asked for, and nothing else
- To respond to messages you send us
- To keep the site secure and diagnose problems
- To understand, in aggregate, what readers find useful
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing. We do not attempt to build advertising profiles of individual readers ourselves.
Data retention
Comments and their associated details remain on the site while the article is published. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept while they are useful for follow-up and then deleted. Server logs are rotated regularly.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any issue. You can ask us to delete a comment you left, or to remove your personal information, by emailing admin@infotheater.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — such as access, correction, deletion and objection under the GDPR, or the right to opt out of sale or sharing under US state privacy laws. We honour those requests regardless of where you are.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information we will update this page and the review date at the top.
